<3 Thanks for the inspiration ^_^

Click for texture credits and prints store. If you like using textures in your artwork click around on my DA submission - there are some seriously amazing resource providers over there and I am proud to be part of the community.
Also a huge good luck hug to

who has decided to end his stint in the Daily Grind to concentrate on his print work. I can't wait to have one of those graphic novels comics in my sticky paws! |

I WANT TO GO TO STUMPTOWN FUCK YOU ATLANTIC OCEAN
I suggest a vote. All those in favour of free flights to America for comic book and independent arts festivals say "AYE"
All those who disagree with the above, kindly leave this journal entry stage left. |

Essay handed in.
Stress slowly abating (I say slowly as now PMT has set in and I am even more RAH than normal)
A whole easter to dedicate to our new project and MY OWN ART! YES!
New project is "Transgression" - basically we take an old master and use an aspect of it (the concept, the composition, the colours etc) to create something in our own style.
I am considering something Mucha because I have the urge to paint flowers, but I keep wanting to do something deeper. Like reinterpreting a classic mother and child painting with a teen mother. Really grotty and downtrodden. Or do three with different ages of mother hood as there is such a wide age range now...
We also have to take inspiration from a living artist for the style we reinterpret it in... and I happen to have found an excellent bloke in Art Review magazine... but I can't remember his name and I left it at college. He paints porn in the style of pre raphelite nudes. It's fucking awesome.
There are too many words. This post is scaring me slightly. |

Hi guys,
I am seriously stressed. 2/3 of the way through my contextual studies essay that has to be in Thursday D: and the last part is about Patrick Heron and the book I have has MANY LONG WORDS :crying: Why are art writers poncey twats?
Last project at college has been Abstract. I'm not bowled over by abstract to be honest but it's been so much fun making artwork that is so touchy feely and textural.

This is my favourite - ink and acrylic splodged about and then I ran white enamel through the natural curves that the paint had formed. I love the result. There are more over there on DA.
I also did some nudes in print making - drypoint etching over monoprints. I adore it. There are some over on DA but I am taking better photos. The quality of the ink is just gorgeous - I need to take close up shots.

This is so what I would do.

Art by skim_milks words by me. Dudes, I've been typing up some new scripts to send to Kim and I've been weeing myself. It's like someone else wrote them. I used to write plays and have been dabbling with doing it again... but comic > play is a huge leap! I have re-discovered something I once loved to do almost by accident - thankyou Kim! |

Crazy web issues result in late comic. Apologies people.
I say crazy web issues, I mean crazy Molly issues >_< I should not be allowed near technology.
Now I must find new scripts to type. I wrote them... they just hid. |

This is possibly the most random thing that has ever come out of the end of a pen.
The text was hand written but was horribly uneven so I used a font. I'm undecided on if I like it or not.
This is dedicated to my good friend the phoenix. A misunderstood beast. |

This is number one. My Gawd colouring this made my head hurt!
Also: I am in love with monoprinting. It is the most fun thing ever. I will post some when they're finished :D |

I can't decide if I want to sell this or not. I am rather attached to it. Who knows, next week it may be in my etsy store... that doesn't exist right now.
I really enjoyed making this though - it was entirely random. I was staining canvas strips for my abstraction project at college and this one just looked like a fluffy hippo. Then it was a double ended fluffy hippo. And then SIAMESE SHEEP.
So basically just ink on canvas :D
In other news, I cried in Life Drawing today. I can just about tolerate measured drawings, but when we have to concentrate on boxes I just had a flashback to being 12 and failing at drawing cubes in CDT (and that was with a set square - today we were just using bits of card to measure by eye!) and completely melted. My lecturer felt horrible - it wasn't his fault but his guilt revealed that he used to wear kaftans and had hair down to his bum. I wasn't surprised but it cheered me enormously :D

With new and shiny artist skim_milks! T43 will be updating weekly, most probably on a Sunday evening (GMT) but don't hold me to it!
I am so incredibly excited - we've got about 15 strips done and the story line has gone haywire since I don't have to draw what I write anymore :D Being a writer is a bit like torturing people - it rocks :D Plus Kim's art is amazing - I love everything about it.
Please forgive website hitches - it is still very much in the middle of a face lift. |
